I never imagined that rock bottom would be the very place where God would rebuild me. But looking back, I see how every struggle, every tear, and every unanswered prayer was leading me to something greater.
For years, I battled perfectionism, shame, and the belief that I wasn’t enough. No matter how much I achieved, I struggled with chronic anxiety and depression. I tried to control everything, thinking that if I just worked harder, I’d finally feel seen, heard, accepted and loved.
Through my own journey of healing—both as a client and now as a therapist—I’ve come to understand that we all experience pain, and there is no shame in it. Part of that journey was undoing the rigid beliefs of fundamentalism and discovering the real Jesus—the Jesus of grace, love, and radical compassion.
It changed everything.
I no longer see faith as a set of rules to follow but as a relationship that brings healing and transformation. It shifted my perspective on people, on God, and on what it truly means to live in freedom. God turned my pain into purpose, and now I help other women break free from fear, step into confidence, and walk boldly in their God-given calling.
Surrendering my life and plans to God opened the door for me to serve my community in ways I never imagined—both locally and online. Through this journey, I’ve been blessed to create spaces where healing, growth, and faith intersect. In addition to The Mental Health Chicks, I am the CEO and Co-Founder of Unboxed Grace Counseling Company and Unboxed Grace Coaching Company. These spaces allow me to serve as both a therapist and a mindset coach, helping others who feel stuck, unworthy or afraid, find healing.
I reside in Indiana with my husband of 26 years and our two teenage boys. We serve on our church worship team and spend a lot of time at basketball and soccer games. It's a blessed life!
